Building Hong Kong’s Alumni Network
Last week, 40 Shanghai American School Eagle alumni flocked to the American Club in Hong Kong to network. The room was buzzing with excitement as people recognized familiar faces from their days at SAS, with some classmates reconnecting for the first time in over ten years.
This event was proudly co-sponsored by SAS alumni-founded investment firm Three Capital Partners. Three Capital Partners Co-founder and CEO Alex Yu ‘02 and COO Jonathan Shelley ‘02 opened the event by sharing their journey from SAS to today - inspiring attendees with their conviction and persistence in building their careers and business.
"It was a pleasure to co-host and connect with alum of all ages, and to hear what everyone is doing in Hong Kong.” Alex shared. “SAS has an incredible group of alumni in almost every industry and major city around the world. That’s why it’s so important, both personally and professionally, to invest time and energy in building relationships. By doing so, we can strengthen this community and ensure that everyone benefits and contributes to making it even better."
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed the food, refreshments and stunning Victoria Harbour views while sharing their own stories and building new relationships. Alumni quickly discovered shared industries and interests, organically growing professional and personal networks.
“It was wonderful to be connected with the school again after so much time,” Jon said. “It’s great to see that the SAS community has grown so large and for all of us to have a common connection - the appreciation of our time at SAS. I’m very much looking forward to participating in future events and giving back anyway I can!”
The event was another testament to the deep bonds that connect SAS Alumni of all ages. It also highlighted the valuable network and strength of connection that is at the core of the SAS community. And to those who couldn’t attend this time due to our venue capacity restrictions, we look forward to hosting you next time in a bigger venue!
