When 112 Buses Weren’t Enough
Chances are, if you’ve been in Shanghai for a while then you’ve spotted one (or maybe a few) of the signature Shanghai American School buses rolling through the city. In 2018, SAS began turning its buses into storytellers. Each of the SAS student buses features a unique graphic that represents the remarkable people, traditions, programs, and events of the school. And for many of our students, our buses are the first step of their day at SAS as well as a reminder that our support begins the moment they step on board.
This year, with our Pudong student population bigger than ever, we welcomed a brand-new storyteller to the fleet, bringing our total number of students buses up to 113. Introducing the TEDx bus, featuring seniors Alicia B. and Wendi W. mid-speech during their TEDx presentation last school year – an image that captures the confidence and creativity that our students develop here every day.
You’d think 113 buses would be enough to represent all the stories at a school. The fact is, with more than 3,000 students, inspiring stories happen almost daily at SAS, and there just aren’t enough buses to tell them all. Who knows whose story will be the next to take the road?
