Meet Jonathan McMullen: Puxi Elementary School’s New Principal

Some new leaders arrive with a moving truck. Jonathan McMullen arrives with years of Shanghai American School experience, familiar hallways, and a deep appreciation for the wonderfully busy rhythm of elementary school. An Eagle since 2018, Jonathan is stepping into the role of Puxi’s new elementary school principal after serving as vice principal. With a Master of Arts in Teaching and Child Development, a background in community planning, more than a decade of international experience, and over 19 years working in education, Jonathan brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to helping our youngest Eagles learn, grow, and feel at home. Our elementary students got to ask him a few questions to get to know him in this new role. For our library regulars, keep your eyes open: you might just spot him reading Make Way for Ducklings!
