Alumni Legends|The Admissions Counselor: Brent Cheung
Shanghai American School alumni are known for returning to campus to share their experiences and to catch up with familiar faces in a place that forever feels like home. But rarely has an alumni return been timelier and the advice shared more relevant than when Brent Cheung ‘19 came to visit this October.
As our high school seniors prepare early decision college applications for November deadlines, Brent stopped by both our campuses to offer helpful tips and answer burning questions from students and parents on the complicated process of applying to university. You see, Brent isn’t just an Eagle alumni, he’s also an admissions counselor for Tufts University, specializing in reading applications from China and hosting admissions events for international students.
Brent offered insight into how admissions offices operate directly from the source, imploring applicants to step away from online misinformation and seek answers directly from university offices. He also emphasized the importance of finding the best fit university, reminding students to carefully evaluate how universities will suit them academically and beyond.
Brent’s candid feedback and practical advice was just what our seniors – and senior parents – needed as the college application process kicks into high gear. Hear more from Brent in the video below. We’re so grateful that Brent continues to visit with our high school students to assist them as they navigate their college journey!
