Alumni Gather in Boston and Washington DC
Two weekends ago was a double header of excitement for Shanghai American School alumni, with gatherings in Washington D.C. on Saturday and in Boston, Massachusetts on Sunday. Close to 100 SAS Eagles met to reconnect, reminisce and form new bonds within the alumni community.
Washington D.C. kicked the weekend off with lunch at Sichuan Pavilion. Alumni host Norman Wang ‘22 planned a cozy, relaxed meal that would feel like a bit of Shanghai in Washington D.C. Eagles filled their bellies and their emotional cups, chatting well into the afternoon and making plans to meet again soon. “I didn’t expect to find so many Eagles in D.C.,” Norman shared. “It was great seeing people having great food and connecting with each other.
Boston closed the weekend off with a bang, with close to 70 Eagles gathering at 730 Tavern in Cambridge. Alumni co-organizers Jason Kang ‘19 and Jamie Liu ‘20 immediately made everyone feel at home, spreading the Eagle spirit and making introductions for cross-class and campus connections. Jason and Jamie met and became friends at an SAS alumni event in Shanghai and were inspired to bring Boston-based Eagles together. “The event turned out better than either of us could’ve imagined,” they shared. “From reconnecting with friends to meeting new people, this was a great way to round out the year and goes to show how strong the SAS community is.”
The theme of the weekend was connections between both our alumni and their alma mater and with one another. Former students were given the opportunity to meet Eagles they may not have had a chance to cross paths with during their school years, expanding personal and professional networks. Alumni connected instantly, emphasizing the unique SAS experience that binds together Eagles of all generations. Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!
