435 New Eagles Get Their Wings
This week, 435 talented students joined Shanghai American School for the 2026–27 school year. They are now part of our incredible Eagle community of over 3,000 students representing 50 nationalities and regions, which means there are plenty of new names to learn, stories to share, and perspectives to discover.
Orientation is the first step in the SAS experience. It is a chance to meet teachers, find classrooms, explore campus, and start putting faces to names. It is also a chance to ask the important questions: Where do I go next? Who do I sit with at lunch? Where is my locker again?
Fortunately, no one is expected to have everything figured out on day one. Across both campuses, students, families, faculty, and staff are ready to help our newest Eagles settle in. The goal is not simply to learn the layout of the school, but to begin building the connections that make SAS more than a school, but an important community for life. A quick conversation can become a friendship. A classmate can become a teammate. Someone you meet during orientation may eventually become a part of your lunch table crew.
Every student arrives with something different to contribute. Together, those experiences, interests, languages, and ideas make our school stronger. To our 435 new students: welcome! Take your time, ask questions, introduce yourself, and remember that even the most confident-looking person on campus has probably taken a wrong turn at least once.
