
Alan Preis
Alan Preis has worked in educational technology for more than twenty years, with a focus on supporting schools through thoughtful and practical use of digital tools and systems. He is currently the Director of Technology at Shanghai American School, where he leads both operational and instructional technology teams. His work includes technology planning, system design, cybersecurity, and the integration of new technologies, most recently, generative AI. Since joining SAS in 2015, he has helped update the school’s digital platforms, strengthen infrastructure, and align technology efforts with broader learning and operational goals.
Before coming to SAS, Alan held technology leadership roles at Atlanta International School and the Alexander Dawson School. He has worked closely with educators, school leaders, and IT teams to improve systems, support innovation in the classroom, and build tools that help schools run more smoothly. He also participates in regional professional networks and has presented at conferences in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.
Alan’s academic background is in Mathematics and Secondary Instruction, with a focus on instructional technology. He studied at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Cornell University, and the University of Maryland.
