It was another standout week for Shanghai American School at the Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) tournaments, with our student-athletes delivering an impressive mix of podium finishes and championship performances. Competing across the region, SAS students showcased not only elite skill and determination, but also the resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship that define Eagle athletics.

On the badminton courts in Japan, both campuses brought home hardware and showed impressive depth. Pudong’s girls led the way as APAC champions, powered by sophomore Mia L.’s gold in singles and a collection of bronze finishes from her teammates across doubles and mixed events. Puxi’s girls secured 3rd place with a mix of silver and bronze medals. The Puxi boys, down two players for most of the tournament, battled to a 3rd place team finish.

The domination continued with freshman Eva W., Miranda Y., and Shelley L. in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the individual girl's tournament. Similarly in the individual boy's tournament, freshman Jayden Z. and captains Austin L. and Matthew K., both juniors, swept the top three spots.

The track and field team spent the weekend in Beijing as well, with Puxi girls leading the way with an APAC championship win and Puxi boys snagging the silver medal. But the wins didn’t stop there. Individually between both campuses, our athletes produced an exceptional medal haul, with 12 golds, 6 silvers, and 18 bronzes. To top it all off, several school records were broken.

Across courts, fields, fairways, and tracks, SAS athletes showed that success at APAC is measured in more than podium finishes. It is reflected in the resilience to compete through adversity, the commitment to teammates, and the pride of representing the Eagles on an international stage. The medals are just a nice bonus, even if they do make the luggage a bit heavier on the way home. Congratulations to all of our athletes and coaches!
