SAS Tuition and Fees
Annual School Fees for 2010-2011
The annual school tuition fees are billed in the respective currencies twice a year.  Half are payable on or before June 1 for semester 1; half are payable on or before November 1 for semester 2. 

A non-refundable deposit of USD $5,000 applies for returning and new students for semester 1, due before April 1. All new students who enroll after June 1 for semester 1, and November 1 for semester 2, must pay the tuition fees within 10 days following receipt of the School’s invoice. 

Note – A non-refundable deposit and seat cancellation charge of USD $5,000 applies if a student withdraws after the April 1 and November 1 due dates for semester 1 and 2, respectively. Other cancellation penalties may apply and are subject to change as approved by the Board of Directors.  New students who enter SAS 15 days or more after the start of a semester will be invoiced at a pro-rated amount of the full semester’s fees, plus a late registration fee of USD $100.

* The total Annual Tuition Fee in USD does not include the $30 bank processing fee that is billed as $15 per semester.

Annual Tuition Summary:

  • The tuition fee covers the operational and capital needs of the School.
  • The above fees will be billed based on the exchange rate adopted by the School at the time of billing and may differ from those listed above due to exchange rate fluctuations.
  • Tuition fee billed in USD may be paid either in RMB or in USD. Payment in RMB will be subject to a 5% processing fee. The School can only accept checks or wire transfers for tuition payment. Cash cannot be accepted. 
For new students entering SAS: When 15 days of a new semester have elapsed, a pro-rated amount of the full semester's fees, plus a late registration fee of USD $100, will be charged.

Deposit/Cancellation Fee: (non-refundable) USD $5,000 per semester
For each semester, a non-refundable deposit/cancellation fee in USD will be applied.  For semester 1 the non-refundable deposit fee due before April 1 is applied toward the tuition.  For semester 2 of the academic school year, a seat cancellation charge of USD $5,000 will be charged if the student withdraws from the School after November 1 for the second semester. Other cancellation penalties may also apply and are subject to change as approved by the Board of Directors.

Required Supplemental Fees

Application Fee:
RMB ¥2,500
The application fee is non-refundable, non-transferable and is only valid for the school year applied for. This fee is payable when the student’s application is submitted and prior to evaluation by the admission committee.

Matriculation Fee:
USD $2,200
The matriculation fee is a one-time mandatory fee for new students. It is designated to the repayment of facility project loans, and for construction, repair and maintenance of the School’s facilities.

Supplemental Program Fees

ESOL Fee (English for Speakers of Other Languages): RMB ¥10,000
A one-time, non-refundable ESOL fee will be charged to new students who, upon assessment, are enrolled in the ESOL program. The fee is designated to support a portion of the cost of this program.

Technology Fee: RMB ¥11,500
The non-refundable mandatory technology fee will be charged to all Middle and High School students in grades designated by the Administration. The implementation of the 1:1 Laptop Program is to enhance their learning. For this fee, the student will receive a MacBook complete with software licensed to the School, AppleCare onsite services and warranty.

Transportation Fee (optional for bus service) RMB ¥9,920
The School provides optional bus service to and from school. The transportation fee applies only to those students who register with our regular bus service. This fee is billed each semester at a cost of RMB 4,960 per student. 
Note: The School is not obligated to provide service if the housing location is not within our serviced routes.

Other Fees

Activity Travel Programs: The costs of these school trips vary and depend on the event’s duration and location.  For school-sponsored activities (for example: China Alive, APAC events, community service, etc.), the School may partially subsidize some of the travel expenses.

Lunch: The School provides a hot meal program on both campuses, which varies in amount based on the food items individually purchased.

PE Uniforms: Uniforms are required for all students in grades 6 to 12 who take physical education class. New students receive a complimentary PE uniform. The School recommends the purchase of an additional set at the School’s Eagle Shop. The set includes a t-shirt and a pair of shorts.
