This is spirit week at SAS Pudong. Arguably, so was last week.Come to the Pudong campus of Shanghai American School on any given week, and you’ll feel the community spirit. But this week, if you visit the high school, that feeling will be inescapable.
Because this week is officially Spirit Week at the high school. Each day has a theme, and it all leads up to Friday, otherwise known as the Wave of Blue Day. On that day, we kick off with a Teacher Appreciation breakfast courtesy of the PTSA, a Head of School conversation, and a Parent Coffee. We then move on to a spirit assembly, take in the multitude of activities and performances that make up the campus tradition “Friday Night Lights,” and finish off with a performance of Shrek The Musical in our 750-seat Performing Arts Center. Whew, what a day!
While organized events promote spirit, the whole high school program creates a lot of enthusiasm. Our supportive, choice-based structure is designed to help every student thrive. High school students in Pudong can choose between AP (where 94% of students scored a 3 or above) and IB (average score in 2019: 38). Our students can also perform in that stunning PAC, swim in one of Shanghai’s top aquatic centers, or join one of dozens of clubs, sports, or service learning opportunities. Or, all the above.
The spirit carries beyond campus as well, to the streets of Jinqiao, the compounds of Lujiazui, and the greenery of Century Park. Explore more of the best international high school experience that Pudong has to offer.
