Welcoming New Eagles to Puxi Campus

The newest group of Eagle teachers have landed on Puxi campus! They’ve spent the last few weeks gearing up for an exciting and inspiring 2022-2023 school year.

We have new educators from 16 countries, and 82% of them are joining us with master’s degrees or higher. They are eager to welcome the students to in-person learning soon. We’re introducing some of them to you today, so be sure to say hello when you spot them on campus!

Joanne C. – Elementary School, Grade 2 Teacher

Joanne did her schooling at Hong Kong International School, after which she did her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Psychology in the US. She’s therefore always looking at children through a developmental lens. Before joining the Eagles, she taught at private schools in Shanghai. Witnessing how children grow and make sense of their world brings her loads of joy.

Adam S. – Elementary School, Grade 4 Teacher

Adam, originally from Canada, started his overseas teaching career in 2006 in South Korea before coming to China. His goal as an educator is to develop independent learners who have a voice in shaping the direction of their learning in the classroom. Outside of school, Adam and his wife rescue abandoned animals. They’ve already given five dogs and one cat a new chance at life.

Scott H. – Middle School, Design Tech Teacher

With more than 12 years of classroom experience, Scott has teaching down to a fine art. He obtained both his Bachelor of Fine Art and Master’s in Education degrees from the US. He’s no stranger to international school teaching as he has taught in South Korea, the US and in different cities in China. When he’s not wearing his teacher’s hat, you’ll either find him doing something artsy or outdoorsy, like hiking, camping or scuba diving.

Catherine S. – Middle School, Social Studies Teacher

Catherine brings 26 years of experience to the Eagles faculty. In addition to being a classroom teacher, she also previously served as Assistant Principal and Director of Instruction.  Catherine, a rugby fanatic, enjoys watching live national and international matches, and cheering for her favorite team, the All Blacks.

Jill L. – High School Director of College Counselling

Jill worked as an admission officer for universities in the US for more than a decade. This means she knows how to find the best-fit institutions for our students. It’s therefore no surprise that many of her previous students were accepted to prestigious universities in different parts of the world. Outside of school, you can find Jill whipping up something tasty in the kitchen.

Tyler C. – High School, Social Studies Teacher

Having two master’s degrees in education shows just how dedicated Tyler is to his students and his profession. Aside from guiding and teaching, he uses his life experiences to inspire students and relate to them. In his free time, he is either strumming on his guitar or cooking up a storm. Tyler is cross-dominant, meaning he can do things with both hands!

Milan N. – High School, Biology Teacher

Milan has taught in the US and China. She has been a teacher fellow and teacher ambassador with the National Center for Science Education, University of Pennsylvania’s Netter Center and the Teacher Institute of Philadelphia, the Franklin Institute and Earthwatch. To help save the planet, Milan advocates for conservation, sustainability practices, permaculture, urban agriculture and climate education.
