Gala for The Arts

Dear SAS Community,

On Saturday, March 2, 2019 we held our second Gala for the Arts at the W Shanghai – The Bund. With almost five hundred faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends attending, we celebrated the Arts at Shanghai American School and raised more than 1.7 million RMB to support our Artists in Residence Program.

The evening featured a fashion show with designs by Grace Chen, an extended performance by Anneliese Charek's Slate Dance Company with our own student dancers and musicians, a live auction with nine generous items donated to our community, and of course great food, company, music and dancing. It was a night to remember!

With this generous show of support, we will continue to host professional artists at our two campuses from all over the world to work with our students in music, theater, dance, painting, and more. The opportunity to engage directly with professional artists in our Artists in Residence Program has been an inspiring aspect of our SAS student experience for many years, and we are excited to continue and further enhance this program in the years ahead.

Appreciation must go out to all those who attended, our donors and generous sponsors, our student performers, and our SAS team under the leadership of Crickett Kasper who made this event possible.

May the Arts continue to thrive and uplift our students at SAS!

Gala for the Arts at SAS

SAS has hosted two Gala for the Arts events thus far, raising more than 2.1 million RMB for our Artists in Residence program. These special evenings showcase talented students from both our campuses in special performances as well as an extensive array of auction items.

SAS hosts the Gala for the Arts every other year to continue support for the Artists in Residence program. This event brings together our international communities from both campuses to accomplish one common goal – to raise funds for this SAS signature program and provide our students unparalleled opportunities to learn from masters in their craft.
