Visiting College Reps

The Shanghai American School was founded in 1912 as an independent, non-profit and non-sectarian school serving expatriate families from grades pre-kindergarten to grade 12. The Puxi campus is located on the west side of Shanghai near the Hongqiao Airport; the Pudong campus is located on the east side of Shanghai near the Pudong International Airport. SAS is China's largest international school with over 3,000 students from almost 40 countries.

The best time of the day to visit SAS-Pudong is from12:20-1:40pm. We advertise your visits to our students and their parents, please forward any information you would specifically like to share to Michelle Barini. To schedule your visit to Shanghai American School – Pudong Campus, please use the RepVisits platform. If you do not have a RepVisits account, you may click HERE. Please keep the following information in mind:

  • Travel time from hotels in downtown Puxi is about 55 minutes.
  • Travel time from hotels in Pudong is about 45 minutes.
  • We normally host college visits in a College Fair style; a table in our new high school commons area during lunch time. However, we are happy to accommodate a formal presentation or small group discussion.
  • We are happy to have more than one university visit during the lunch period, so please feel free to request a date even if you see someone already scheduled on our calendar.
  • We have very limited space for college brochures or literature, please keep the environment in mind when packing…go green.

Taxi or Private Driver?
We strongly recommend hiring a driver and car for the day, especially if you have more than one school visit on a single day. You can arrange one through your hotel or contact us for a local driver and van.

T-Shirts
If you can find room in your luggage or in any mailings, we are collecting t-shirts in our office to wear on Fridays. We would love to “advertise” your school to our students. Sizes: 1 Medium and 2 XL.

In order to maximize your visit, our students are available only during these times and days:

  • Monday, Thursday 1:00-1:50 p.m. (during the lunch break)
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:30-10:00a.m. (during the morning break)
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 12:45-1:30 p.m. (during the lunch break)

We advertise college visits to all students (grades 10-12) and their parents. We encourage any high school students or parents who are interested in a college visit to attend. For this reason, we will not know the number of students or parents who will join your presentation or visit your table. Most visits will be college fair style, but we may also be able to accommodate a small or a large group for a formal presentation. We are able to provide the necessary equipment to show a video or presentation slides.

We have heard from visiting college admission representatives that staying in the center of the city is best when visiting Shanghai. Here are some of their top choices:

  • easy access to the elevated highway
  • located on the edge of the Former French Concession
2) Marriott at Tomorrow’s Square (which is really People’s Square)
  • situated on Metro lines 1, 2, 8
