Staffed entirely by the Shanghai American School Puxi MUN team, SHAMUN brings over 200 students from international schools all over China to simulate the MUN experience. Since 1998, SHAMUN has grown from a small scale conference to one of the most successful Model UN conferences in Shanghai.

SHAMUN’s small committees provide delegates with excellent opportunities to project their voices, think critically, and challenge one another. The small committee model allows delegates to fully experience the essence of MUN.

One of the distinguishing characteristics of SHAMUN is the crisis committee format. Since the introduction of crisis committee in 2015, SHAMUN has brought to delegates a series of issues, ranging from the Suez Crisis to the South China Sea Issue. This year we are proud to introduce you a dual crisis committee. The dual cabinet crisis committee takes the regular crisis program to a new and more exiting level. These crisis committees will feature the Chinese Cabinet, the Japanese cabinet and the UN Security Council. The topic for this year’s dual crisis committee is the disputes in the South China Sea.
