Positive Discipline In the Classroom

This two-day interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach based on Adlerian Psychology, that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educators and will learn to:
Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.
Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.
Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.
Understand the motivation behind students’ misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.
Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.
Understand the belief behind student’s misbehavior and how to use encouragement to motivate positive change.
Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.
JILL STANSBURY is the Early Childhood Social and Emotional Learning specialist at the the Shanghai American School Puxi campus. Her master’s degree in educational leadership is from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. She has been a trainer for the Positive Discipline Association since 2007 and has used Positive Discipline preschool through high school as both a teacher and administrator since 1994. She enjoys helping educators strengthen their relationships with students by sharing strategies that teachers and schools can use to artfully teach students long-term life skills.

Visa: You will need a visa if you are coming to Shanghai from outside of China. A simple tourist visa is sufficient for the trip.
Transportation: Transportation will be provided from the recommended hotel to the Puxi campus. Participants are responsible for
their own transport to and from the airport.
Intercontinental NECC Puxi The hotel is close by the school and five minutes walk to the subway. Please book directly with email@example.com at the hotel letting her know that you are a guest of the Shanghai American School when booking. You will then be eligible for our corporate rate. For the dates of September 19 and/or 20 the hotel rate is CNY 1280 +10% service charge +6% VAT due to the Import/Export Exposition happening in the neighborhood. For the dates of October 23 and/or 24 the rate is CNY 800 +10% service charge + 6% VAT. This rate includes breakfast for one.
