Activities

We offer more than 150 after-school activities between our two campuses. Students of all ages have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, art, and academic that support and compliment our curriculum.

Elementary students enjoy participating in a wide range of after-school activities as well as soccer days and track and field days. Middle school students can participate in a variety of China International Schools Sports Association (CISSA) sports and after-school activities. High school students can compete and perform in 14 sports and six performing arts in the Shanghai International Schools Activities Conference (SISAC), Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC), and a number of local and international tournaments. There are also over 134 student-driven clubs and service groups in the high school.

Additionally, as a member of the Association of Music in International Schools (AMIS) as well as the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA), students passionate about music and theatre are able to travel, compete, and perform throughout the year.

Elementary School Activities

Elementary students at both campuses may participate in a wide variety of after-school activities such as painting, yoga, science experiments, soccer, basketball, computer programming, and more. Soccer days and track and field days are also very popular activities.

Middle School Activities

The Middle School offers a number of exciting after-school activities as well as the opportunity to join a CISSA athletic team in touch rugby, soccer, cross country, swimming, table tennis, floor hockey, volleyball, badminton, basketball, tennis, track & field, and softball.
After-school activities include robotics, ultimate frisbee, coding, Model United Nations (MUN), Roots & Shoots, band, basic cooking, photography, rock climbing, dance and more.

High School Activities

Students can participate in the following APAC varsity sports and performing arts: cross country, tennis, rugby, boys’ baseball, golf, volleyball, basketball, swimming, girls’ softball, badminton, soccer, track and field, table tennis, golf, choir, orchestra, dance, band, theatre and forensics.

There are also many after-school clubs for high school students, such as community service initiatives, debate, robotics, Habitat for Humanity, Animal Rescue, and more.

SAS proudly participates in three main conferences for activities, including athletics, arts, and clubs. The conferences are Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC), Shanghai International Schools Activities Conference (SISAC), and the China International Schools Sports Association (CISSA).
